There are recipes you make when you want complexity — and there are recipes you make when you want steadiness. Jujube Ginger Tea belongs in the second category.
Jujube (red date) has been brewed for generations for its naturally honeyed depth and soft caramel character. Fresh ginger brings warmth and lift. Together, they create a cup that feels simple, direct, and complete.
What It Tastes Like
Mildly sweet with a rounded, date-like richness. Ginger adds warmth without sharpness. The finish is smooth and slightly earthy.
Ingredients
-
4–6 dried jujubes (red dates), lightly pressed or sliced
-
3–4 thin slices fresh ginger
-
2 cups filtered water
-
Optional: a small piece of cinnamon bark or raw honey
Instructions
Add water, jujubes, and ginger to a small pot. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15–20 minutes.
Strain into a cup and serve warm. Add honey only if desired — the jujube already provides a natural sweetness.
Optional Variation
For a deeper infusion, lightly crush the jujubes before simmering.
For a brighter cup, add a small squeeze of lemon just before serving.
When to Drink It
Evening.
Cold weather.
Or anytime you want something warm without caffeine.
Pair It With
This recipe pairs well with mineral-forward teas or can be brewed on its own as a simple botanical infusion.
